Joel McAda

Joel McAda has been a percussion educator in the Houston area for thirteen years, including six years on staff with perennial WGI PIW Finalist Monarch Independent from their inception in 2015 through 2020. He has been with the Bridgeland High School band since 2020 and Sprague Middle School since 2023, where he assists Chris Nguyen in the direction of the percussion program.

In addition to assisting percussion studies at Bridgeland and Sprague, Joel is the Director of Percussion at Salyards Middle School, overseeing all percussion instruction for the beginners and performing bands since 2023. His responsibilities at Bridgeland include coordinating the front ensemble for both marching band and indoor percussion, and serving as one of our private lesson teachers.

Outside of teaching, Joel is an avid composer/arranger, and he is currently in charge of sound design and percussion composition for the Cypress Ridge High School Marching Band. Joel has also designed winterguard soundtracks for the 2025 NTCA Scholastic A Silver Medalist Rockwall High School and for the multiple winterguards at Bridgeland, where the varsity guard was a WGI Scholastic A Finalist in 2022.
