Brenton Marquart is the Assistant Band Director at Bridgeland High School in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, where he has taught since the school opened in 2017. During his time at Bridgeland, the band has advanced to the UIL 6A
State Marching Contest six times, earned two UIL 6A State Finals appearances, and been named a finalist at Bands of America regional, super-regional, and Grand National events. In 2024, the Bridgeland Band was awarded the Sudler Shield by the John Philip Sousa Foundation.
At Bridgeland, Brenton teaches across the full band program, including concert ensembles, marching band, chamber music, and brass instruction. He conducts non-varsity concert ensembles and has consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes awards while programming advanced repertoire, including Grade 5 literature with the second band. His work in the program focuses on ensemble fundamentals, brass pedagogy, student leadership, and instructional systems across a large high school band program.
In 2021, Brenton helped establish the Bridgeland Symphony Orchestra, a full orchestra made up of musicians from the band and orchestra programs. The Symphony Orchestra has earned consistent UIL Sweepstakes awards and was invited to perform at the 2023 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic.
Brenton has also served as Music Director for Bridgeland Theatre productions, including Evita in 2025 and CATS! in 2026. In these roles, he conducted 15-member professional pit orchestras and coordinated musical preparation with directors, choreographers, vocalists, and production staff.
Brenton is an active clinician and presenter. He has presented at the Texas Music Educators Association
Convention on low brass instruction and teamwork efficiency, and at the Texas Bandmasters Association
Convention/Clinic as part of Bridgeland’s “Welcome to the Circus: Unlocking Caption-Based Warmups” clinic. He has also led beginning trombone instruction at the Sam Houston State University summer music workshop and presented professional development for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD music educators.
Before teaching at Bridgeland, Brenton served for five years as a trombonist in the U.S. Navy Music Program with the U.S. Fleet Forces Band in Norfolk, Virginia. While in Virginia, he also performed regularly as a substitute bass trombonist with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Richmond Symphony Orchestra.
During the summer, Brenton helps organize and run EPICSOUNDSCAPES, a summer brass workshop where he works closely with Patrick Sheridan with a focus on the Breathing Gym and Brass Gym.
Brenton holds a master’s degree in bass trombone performance from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Houston. He was a marching member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2005 to 2007, performing under the leadership of David Bertman, Richard Saucedo, Michael Gaines, and others.
