Brenton is the Assistant Band Director at Bridgeland High School, where he began his teaching career in 2017. In its first eight years, Bridgeland advanced to the 6A State Marching Contest five times, reaching the 6A State Finals twice, and has been a finalist at BOA regional, super-regional, and grand national events. Under Brenton’s leadership, Bridgeland’s non-varsity bands have earned consistent UIL Sweepstakes awards.
In 2021, Brenton helped establish the Bridgeland Symphony Orchestra, which brings together the top players from the band and orchestra programs to form a full orchestra. The Symphony Orchestra has earned consistent Sweepstakes at UIL contests and, in 2023, was invited to perform at the prestigious Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic.
Before his teaching career, Brenton served as a trombonist in the U.S. Navy Music Program, performing with the U.S. Fleet Forces Band in Norfolk, VA, for five years. While in Virginia, he also performed regularly as a substitute bass trombonist with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra.
During the summer, Brenton helps organize and run the EPICSOUNDSCAPES summer brass workshop, working closely with world-renowned tuba virtuoso and Salt River Brass Band conductor Patrick Sheridan, focusing on the Breathing Gym and Brass Gym.
Brenton holds a master’s degree in bass trombone performance from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Houston. He was also a marching member of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2005 to 2007 under the leadership of David Bertman, Richard Saucedo, Michael Gaines, and others.
